The Coylet Inn - On the banks of Loch Eck
Magnificent Loch Eck just over 6 miles long and 67 feet above sea level, scythes through the centre of the Cowal Peninsula, surrounded by high, forested hills.
The loch epitomises Cowal - rugged and spectacular but at the same time peaceful, where you can while away the hours, and with our own private beach, our rowing boats are always ready to go exploring. We are the only place on the Loch that offers people the opportunity to hire a boat and explore this very special spot.

During the summer months our row boats are often booked up, so it is always advisable to pre-book.
We use large open clinker style boats that seat 7 people comfortably.

We provide buoyancy aids, and you can while away the time exploring the beauty of the Loch from the tranquillity of the water.
Loch Eck has many many small beaches along its shore lines, so you may even want to moor up and explore some of the forest and hills accessible only by boat.

Being one of only 2 places on the Loch with riperian fishing rights, and biding by the old Scottish bylaws where even fish get a rest on Sundays! Fishing permits are available from us.
The Fishing season commences on the 1st of May until the 31st October, and a very old bylaw still exists whereby the Loch cannot be fished on a Sunday which is abided to, despite disgruntled fishermen!
Because of Loch Ecks unique status - it is the only Loch in Scotland where you will find Powan
and Arctic Charr, together with Sea Trout and Salmon - anglers are prohibited from introducing any form of "live bait" into the Loch, and also prohibited from fishing for the Arctic Charr and Powan.
Fishing permits are available from The Coylet Inn and are £5.00 per rod.
